Business Development Director - New Biologics
Our client is a leading pharmaceutical CDMO company that provides global pharmaceutical companies with innovative, reliable, and end-to-end process R&D and manufacturing services across small molecule APIs, dosage forms, and biologics. We are looking to grow business development activities across North America to support our CDMO offerings across the globe, and we are always looking for confident high-caliber individuals with passion and high adaptability to diversity.
This role(s) requires a confident self-starter who enjoys building new relationships both externally and internally. This customer-facing role conveys the value offer comprised of our biologics (Synthesized Macromolecule, Large Molecular and Antibody Drug Conjugate) process R&D, formulation development, analytical development, and manufacturing capabilities. Responsibilities: (This job description is subject to change as the company deems fit)
l Identify and develop new business opportunities for the company. Prospect pharmaceutical companies seeking CDMO services to qualify new projects with scientists and demonstrate our professional touch as a world class supplier.
l Deeply understand customer needs to ensure accuracy, timely revision, and fair pricing of our proposals to deliver a memorable customer experience.
l Help build the sales process and record information in the CRM database to enable both peers and commercial leadership across the greater network to communicate and succeed.
l Provide voice-of-customer to internal partners and continuously build field sales opinions to evolve our value proposition while in startup mode.
l Local travel to visit customers. Limited travel outside of territory for meetings and conferences not to exceed 25%.
l Work closely with leadership and cross-functional members of the management team to drive and implement corporate strategy and long-range planning based on current portfolio opportunities and risks, financing needs and organizational capabilities. Assist in identifying portfolio, financing, and/or organizational gaps and plans for how to best address them.
l Budget control, revenue and expense strategy management.
l Expand the profile and reach of the company and its brands, develop and strengthen internal and external relationships that will lead to increased lead generation and market share.
Knowledge & Skills:
l Ideally has an existing customer network, positive relationships, and knowledge of agreement execution from a previous CDMO business development role.
l Has sold related products or services to learn a variety of approaches when selling to startups vs. big pharma.
l Proficiency with CRM or customer relationship management tools.
l Formal training in a consultative or solution-based sales methodology is a plus.
l Excellent presentation and communication skills, ability to communicate accessibly and concisely about products or services to outsiders, including prospective customers and clients, partners, and vendors.
l Effective organizational skills.
l Big-picture thinking.
Requirements:
l Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences required; MBA or postgraduate scientific degree preferred.
l At least 5 years of field sales or business development experience in the life sciences industry.
l Customer dedication to relentlessly seek and distill solutions from complexity.
l Good knowledge of the CMC and clinical drug development process.
l Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
l Mindful listener and communicator (written and oral).
l Bilingual in both Mandarin and English is a plus.
